It’s still unknown how long Marissa Shephard was in Moncton prior to her arrest.
Lawyer Gilles Lemieux was asked outside the courthouse whether it was her intention to turn herself in, “It was my understanding, that is what she was doing.”
He also said Shephard was feeling overwhelmed before her court appearance, “She’s been questioned by police for the past 24 hours, so she was tired and drawn. I don’t know what she was like before she was arrested. I can only tell you what she is like now.”
Shephard made her first court appearance yesterday. She was formally charged with first degree murder and arson in connection with the death of 18 year old Baylee Wylie.
22 year old Stephen Nagle and 32 year old Krystal Toole are both facing charges of being an accessory after the fact to murder.
Shephard returns to court on March 18th.
Nagle’s court date was put over until March 10th, while he applies for legal aid. Toole’s case has been adjourned until March 16th.
