An Elsipogtog First Nation man has pleaded guilty to several charges including possession of child pornography, making child pornography available, and sexually assaulting a minor.
Appearing in Moncton provincial court on Tuesday, 21-year-old Billy Ray Peters was sentenced to four years in prison less eight months that he has already served.
Two separate investigations by the Mounties led to the charges.
About a year ago, RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit found online images of child sexual abuse when they carried out a search warrant at an Elsipogtog home.
Later in the year, Elsipogtog RCMP also investigated the sexual assault of a minor.
Billy Ray Peters will also be registered for life on the National Sex Offender Registry and has court-ordered conditions limiting his computer use and contact with children.
