The days of crossing the border from Deer Island are over.
The Canada Border Services Agency says they exclusively processed traffic from Eastport, Maine to Deer Island, New Brunswick, via a ferry service.
However, that ferry service hasn’t operated since the end of the 2014 season, and the port of entry didn’t open for 2015 or 2016.
The CBSA is now closing the port of entry indefinitely, as of today.
Anyone wishing to make the trip will need to travel from Deer Island to Campobello Island by ferry, followed by an approximate 45 minute drive to Eastport, Maine.
