The Charlotte County Wellness Centre will soon be able to help more people.
Premier Brian Gallant in St. Stephen to announce another nurse practitioner will be added to the team at the Wellness Centre in the coming weeks, who will be responsible for outreach to communities in the area.
Gallant also announced a shift will be added to the hemodialysis satellite unit at the Charlotte County Hospital, creating a larger capacity by expanding their hours of service.
Premier Gallant said his government knows the availability and delivery of health services have a significant impact on the quality of life on residents, and in turn, affecting the productivity of the province. “That is why we are working hard to enhance health care delivery across New Brunswick. Increasing dialysis shifts and hiring a nurse practitioner will help improve access to health care services for Charlotte County residents.”
President and CEO of Horizon Health Network, Karen McGrath said they see value in providing timely access to primary care services within the community everyday, adding the additions are perfect examples of responding to the needs of the community, and Horizon is pleased to be improving access to care for Charlotte County residents.
The Charlotte County Wellness Centre opened in January 2017, serving residents in the Saint Andrews, Campobello Island, and St. Stephen region. It currently runs with a family doctor, nurse practitioner, and administrative support.
