The Town of Saint Andrews has announced a single rebate to homeowners for installing exterior security cameras for a limited time.
The rebate program, which is for up to $100, will run from August 12 to October 31, depending on available funds.
Council plans to reassess the program annually, taking into account budget discussions and public engagement.
They say ensuring public safety is a top priority and believe installing security cameras throughout the town will help law enforcement, discourage criminal behaviour, and enhance overall safety and security.
Rebates will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, with only valid applications being considered.
To receive the rebate:
- Security cameras must be installed on the exterior of a residential building.
- Owners are required to submit photos of installed cameras and receipts for the purchased cameras.
- Residents must submit security camera footage to the Town of Saint Andrews and RCMP for crime investigations.
