A meeting has taken place in Washington between premier Brian Gallant and U.S. secretary of commerce Wilbur Ross Junior.
In a news release from the office of the premier, Gallant says the majority of the conversation with Ross, a senior member of president Donald Trump’s cabinet, was about the softwood lumber agreement.
Gallant also says that he argued why New Brunswick should be part of the exclusion they have had since 1982.
The release also states that the province has made submissions to the U.S. department commerce showing that we have an open, fair and undistorted market for lumber.
